Music is a very popular subject in Ardmore where pupils are encouraged to participate and improve their musical skills at key stage 3. All pupils perform on an instrument of their choice and musical tuition on acoustic guitar, electric guitar, keyboard and voice. Key stage 3 pupils also compose using music technology and benefit from using a wide range of music packages such as DJ, Ejay, Garage band and Music Maker where they can compose their own Dance music including video editing.
Music Trips have included the Grand Opera House, participation in music workshops which have been fun and enjoyable. A percussion workshop in April 2016 with Emma King was really interactive and enjoyable for both pupils and staff. Also, the Christmas Carol service proved a great success with staff and pupils getting involved with Christmas music and readings.
The active involvement of pupils to listening, composing and performing activities have provided plenty of stimulation and enjoyment. Music has increased pupils’ self-confidence and self-esteem where they have the freedom to express themselves. This gives pupils the foundation for enriched leisure pursuits in music for the future.
